My Apologies if this seems a bit rude to you...
IV is specific for people those who are awaiting permanent residence...but looking at the recent set of events for those who are not in queue and are new here with just 2-3 years of stay in State....on H1B...
Following is happening and it has a reason...I know many of my friends who have been denied H1B, L1 extensions ..these are those people who have just started PERM...
EB2 dates moving to Jan 00 and other not under U, has a specific reason as well; quota is one reason but it is not the only reason in the current state...these is another means to make sure that those who are trying to get GC and other who are trying to stay for 6 years under H1B should be putup into a spot that the thought of leaving this place and ending up back home becomes a reality..
I am sure out of total 500K awaiting the GC process, will have now atleast a second thought of going back home...H1B and L1 under 6 years are now also being forced to return back....

But as a compromise, I have got a very simple and easy way out...I can tell you one thing, I do have a case which does not require any law change but just the interpretation of it.
Make sure that 5882 is successful. If it proceeds, I will back down. It is a shame that among 25K members raising 5K becomes a challenge.

We Indians deserve to be waiting forever without Greencard.

Applied for EAD (paper based) on July 18, 2008. I-765 approved 08/14. Received the cards in the mail today valid for upto Aug 2010. Losing 2 months since previous EAD was valid for upto 10/18.
Surprisingly the application asked for 2-yr cards if the I-140 petition is approved. As far as I know, my petition is still pending approval at TSC. No LUDs or email updates or anything of the kind. Maybe I should check whether this means an impending I-140 approval or if it's in "approvable state".
My category is EB3 - March 2004.
Good luck to all for their respective approvals.

My situation is not any better. I am working for a GA based company since 2001 got stuck in the backlog center with Priority Date Oct 2003 (labor apporved in Nov 2006 I-140 applied in May). After calling the company HR for 30-40 times in last one week I was able to talk to HR guy, he said the ceo will allow only those who have approved I-140 to apply for I-485. He also said then once priority date retogressed again I will be able to get 3 years H1B ext. that will be good for me.:mad: I think these desi blood sucking compnies will be obsolete in couple of years. If USCIS make the rules better.
I was thinking of disclosing my employers name but then I will never be able to file I-485

Why do you care if they care about EB3 or not.. do you care? Seperate effort.. what will you do in that.. again a back bench behind the alias pushing others to do something, without donating or contributing. Who gave you even the right to write here and put your views when you cannot even can consider it trustworthy to donate 2 cents.

In my opinion, we need to have separate efforts for EB3 (now that EB3 I and EB3 ROW are in the same boat). If we have someone with leadership qualities and wants to use some social networking site for discussing EB3 issues and identifying approaches to solve the EB3 issues, there will be many EB3 folks willing to support the effort. Immivoice is just useless portal, it doesn't have open forums and the core folks here don't care for EB3. In fact, their lobbying efforts were behind USCIS changing the rule for spilling over the unused visa numbers to EB2 first. Just my 2 cents.

I thought of going back after getting citizenship, but that would be another 8-9 years at the least. I would miss the big ride in India. When I went there(Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu) 3 years ago, I did not like it that much. But I see a big change in the last 3 years. Infrastructure is improving. Few of my friends have already gone back and are pretty happy over there.

I think culture vs quality of life is a different thing.
I am not saying that one place is better than the other...
There are many things for which I love living in the US...long list...
there are many things for which I love living in India...I think the list might not be as long as the US one....
2 of the main things I miss in the US.
1. Parents , Siblings and extended family....I do not know how much time anyone will have for me if I were to go back -:)
2. Culuture...mainly for the kids...here once the kids are 10 or 11 I think you cannot tell them anything much...they have thier own mind and will not listen to you....and might end up making wrong decisions...again not saying that this is 100% safe in India...but agian in India I think the kids listen to you till they are a little older....this helps as they might be a little more mature by then and hopefully will make more wise decisions...
Again, I am not saying life is easier or better in one place compared to the other...
If I were to go back to India (which is what we plan to do in 2 years from now) then it will be becuase of the 2 main reasons above...I really wish there was a work around for the 2 above and I would then stay back -:)
Both are great countries with plus and minus....

Folks who opened an SR and had NSC-CSC-NSC transfers, what is the format of the ref # the Cust Service Rep gave you??
I got a # of the format T1NXXXXXXXXXXXCSC format.
I also got this format. but response, came from NSC after 30 days of filing SR.
I had called in the middle to confirm whether SR went to CSC. Rep said requests will get to apprpriate service center.
the other problem is for people like us, the status says " case traansferred and pending at uscis office". I find that reps find it hard to figure out where it is pending. because of wac number, they sometimes conclude it is CSC.
the status on phone says "pending at lincoln".
