I feel more H1b visas alone and/or nurses visas only would actually be bad for us. It takes some of the pressure off the senators from the Tech Lobby/healthcare lobby. In fact one of the silver linings in this last week is that nothing at all was done. This is sure to keep the pressure rising in the start of the 110th congress.

If we see the history H1B and GC numbers were never increased except 2004 20k inpast 15 years In 2000 it was increasd temporarlily for 4 years.Also EB numbers were never increased except temporary reliefs.If it is increased by Skill bill in current form that is really an acheivement. If there is a possiblity they may increase H1B because that is temorary visa(But in reallity not) and GC numbers may remain same. But if increased to 115k then also cap will be reached in another 1 month because there are more number of Desi companies than number of H1Bs. Thats why they are asking exemptions for MS people and 20% adjustment for every year. We have to wait and see whether congress fall on this trap to do this without analysing the impact.

Today, I received the approval notice in mail. However I did not get the physical cards. The notice says that I may have to do the biometrics again to get the but need not take any action at this time.
Did you receive the physical cards by now?

as gc28262 has indicated, that proper analysis and the correct interpretation of the law is needed to change such matters. Unless, EB3 people come out of the lethargic content/self pity and start working on the issues as if their life depended on it (it does) - just writing to the senators and representatives will not help. The legislative offices is not going to do the analysis (in the time that matters to us) and address it to the USCIS. However, if we do the ground work and then approach them, we may have a better chance of succeeding.
Whenever EB3 asks for writing to senators and congressmen, EB2 folks will discourage, but when Eb2 wants to write to the same group everyone encourages.
Why is this pathetic response to a Eb3 guy.
Please remember prior to BackLog days there was not much difference in time span for getting a GC and Employers wanted to cut back on paper process and used to file in EB3 only.
SO please never say High caliber as EB2. there are highly experinced and excpetionaal guys in EB3, but due to Employers negligence and bad luck they are in EB3.

Is there any way we can work for our US employer from India on Indian salary? ......................... So we will just be living in India and working remotely for the employer as a consultant. We will be paying indian taxes as the consulting company will be indian. Any thoughts?

Dear admins,
I think deleting my post was not fair. The other people who have been bashing us with MS degrees need to also have their posts deleted.
I was not offensive in anyway, I just pointed out the reality of the situation and that is not "being offensive."
If you are afraid of alienating some of your contributors, well then by deleting the posts of ppl with Masters degrees you risk alienating them.
If I offended the admin personally if he/she does not have a masters degree, I apologize for hurting your "feelings" but that does not allow you to delete my post.
Finally, since 99% of the time the admins come back with not relevant to the thread, I agree on that ground but respectfully request the deletion of posts by a bunch of others like the "hiring manager" who instigated this discussion.
The posts were deleted on the basis of one criteria only- whether they were offensive to others or not and not on the basis of who wrote the post. If you do feel some post is offensive to you, please report it to us by clicking on the exclamation mark above the post.
As far as this discussion about Masters in the US is concerned, it must have been pushed for by the Universities themselves as this could be a selling point for their degrees.
People do have to realize that if people with Masters are taken out of the quota, then all of us benefit. In the current queue there could easily be tens of thousands of people with Masters Degree. If they are taken out of the quota, the rest of us benefit from the reduced queue.

can we file a lawsuit against USCIS for not following their own guidelines and "discriminating " against cases ?
All cases should be treated equally... don't care whether they are low hanging fruit or not... every case should be represented equally before an IO...
I dont understand why should hard to determine cases be penalized for USCIS's laziness throughout the year and then trying to speed up the process in the last two months...

GC comes with a 'sleeve' to keep the card safely. The pouch in the sleeve have special silver lining to prevent 'de-magnetisation' over the period. Please, take due care as its not easy to get replacement.
I was advised so, at SSA. As I was about to put the card in my wallet (Ya, I went to SSA to update my ssn) gentleman at the window interrupted me. I thought I should share this small tip with IVian fella.

it is not to prevent 'de-magnetization' but to prevent rfid communication. All new passport and other govt id 'cards' ship with rfid chip in them which contains encrypted biometrics info. Since rfid info can be read even 10 meters away with right equipment, it is better to put it in a metallic sleeve (creating a Faraday cage) to prevent anyone from sniffing then biometrics info.

I contacted my Attorney (Its company attorney) and he told me that he will make an enquiry with USCIS. Apparently he has a list of all the pedning cases who are current this month and he is planning to send the list to USCIS.

Visa number assignment is a classical queuing case that can be solved even by a newborn who fires a projectile pee without warning.
and yes as long as we are all stating what we want..
I want three parle-g biscuits with garma garam chai.
It would be more effective if not effecient. You need not wait until the year end to issue visas, visas can be issued using a mathematical model which would allow old PD filers to get a visa ahead of others as soon as his case comes in and other criterias are fullfilled. Basically no one needs to wait for filing I485. People with old PD will get visa numbers first as soon as they enter the application.
