My friend, there is a LOT of difference between the words "rant" and "idea". It is very difficult to confuse between the two:
I wasn't talking about confusion, like I said these are irrelevant to this thread.

The way i understand this, not all companies are bound by the EOE laws.
Certain conditions have to be met to be considered an EOE.
Not every employer is an equal opp employer, so those guys can hire whoever they want.
Besides hiring folks on h1b, etc could add to costs for employers. So they choose not to employ such folks.
>> not all companies are bound by the EOE laws.
Incorrect
All US Employers (that have 15 or more employees) must follow labor laws. EOE applies to all of them.
Read more for yourself
Federal Laws Prohibiting Job Discrimination: Questions And Answers (http://www.eeoc.gov/facts/qanda.html)
However, this is for lawful authorized workers only. In other words, one can not force employer to file for H-1B or any other work visa. At the end of H-1B petition date, employer can not be asked to extend H-1B. That is employer's choice.
But, once hired, H-1B employee can not be discriminated with other workers for equal opportunities in training, job promotions, and work conditions.

Guys:
For all those who are waiting...I would suggest one more thing, if your file is not touched. My lawyer had sent an email to NSC on Aug 2. I believe that along with my SR might have done the trick.....Sheela Murthy was my lawyer....that too might have helped....Who know what works....but we can all try.....Hope all who are stuck, get their GC by end of this month.
Take Care
Yes...A thorough lawyer does this. I am very happy with my lawyer too. She was diligent and thorough...She sent a letter to TSC on the day our cases became current. She also attaches copies of CIS Memos (if applicable) when filing for extensions, reinstatements, etc. so that the IO does not raise RFEs indiscriminately...Once we got our GCs, she sent a long letter regarding Dos and Don'ts after getting Cards

I got an email today from USCIS stating this
Current Status: Card production ordered.
I did not receive any other approval notice. I hope this means that our 485 is approved and the cards have been ordered ?
My PD Is May 2003
Congrats!
Usually there will be another message "Notice welcoming permanrent resident sent" . Then, after a few days there will be "Approval notice sent" , the physical approval notice goes to your attorney. You should receive the physical card within 7-10 days.

I support finding the fact...
Following two concerns were raised but the answers should satisfy....
1) Spouse may not get EAD/AP?
The document clearly states that if the primary's priority date is current then the primary can file I-485 and the spouse can file I-485 as dependent.
Once spouse files his/her I-485 he/she becomes eligible for EAD/AP and there are no restrictions on what and where the spouse can work on EAD/AP.
The document only says that the visa must be used from family quota and not from employment quota.
How does it then matter whether the spouse gets green card even after 10 years if he/she can work anywhere, any occupation and full time/part time?
2) Spouse may get GC long after?
Look at it this way currently we have pool of 140K to share among primary and dependents. What if this pool becomes 200K (if we assume 60K from family quota for illustration purpose)? Which one will be faster. It has to be 200K pool.
In any case let the correct rules be followed.

I mailed mine on May 25 and up to now I haven't gotten anything yet. My lawyer mailed it to NSC and since my I-140 is pending with the TSC, my lawyer said they will just forward it there. It's taking too long. Anybody in the same boat as I am?
I was under the impression that you cannot file before June 1st..

here's a writeup for reporters.
"One the Eve of July 4th, US Rejects Permanent Residency Applications of Law-Abiding, Tax-Paying, High-Skilled Legal Immigrants Including Doctors, Scientists and Engineers"
Justice, freedom, equal opportunity and meritocracy are the pillars on which modern America is built upon. This country has opened its doors with a warm smile and a big heart for every hard working, highly-skilled legal immigrant who has one common thing more than anything else with every American the American dream. Andy Grove of Intel, Sergey Brin of Google, Vinodh Khosla of Sun Microsystems are excellent examples of people who migrated to the US for higher education and then went on to found billion-dollar companies that employs thousands of Americans.
Everyday pressures at work, paying for mortgage, taking care of children are challenges that every working American goes through. But little is known about the silent pain and anxiety of high-skilled, tax-paying, law-abiding doctors, engineers and scientists who have to constantly keep track of their position in the "queue" to obtain their permanent residency status, more commonly the 'green card', as a first step towards calling America their home. Sometimes, the wait in the line can last as long as ten years. The wait comes with several restrictions like being bound to the particular job position with the sponsoring employer for as many years, foregoing promotions and inability to change jobs at will work conditions unimaginable for an average American employee.
Sometimes the position in the long queue moves forward, when even a small movement causing immense joy and anticipation among the employees while sometimes the position moves backwards causing the employee to endure further pain. Historically the US government has opened the doors for the final stage of the green card application (where the applicant can adjust or change their status from any current non-immigrant status to a permanent resident status) every 3 years or so for a small window of time that typically lasts 30 -60 days. On June 13 th 2007 when the US government announced that July 2nd 2007 was the beginning of the one such window of time, the news sent thousands of prospective applicants into a tizzy mixed with relief, anticipation and joy. Many spent thousands of dollars in preparing required documentation, lawyer fee and canceling travel arrangements, to get their applications in on the first day itself.
Alas! With a hitherto unprecedented action, on the morning of July 2nd 2007, the same US government agency, with a terse and nondescript press release went back on its promise and slammed its door shut for any green card application. This action is clearly condemnable, unacceptable and unfair to thousands of high-skilled employees who contribute positively towards strengthening the US economy. Many feel wounded at the inhumane treatment in the hands of US immigration department and are contemplating migrating back to their homeland or to more immigrant friendly countries. However, a strong majority still trusts the US government to implement meaningful reforms specifically targeting legal immigrants while they continue to endure untold sufferings.

While your story is interesting, but I beg to differ again, because, immigration is not something which would be discussed in the Congress for the first time, if we are successfull in bringing something. Each and every single lawmaker in this country understand immigration to the extent that you may not even start to guess...People who oppose us have been putting their restrictive bills again and again so they are going to continue doing that despite of us do something or sleep, do you think Numbersusa wait for us to do something, their anti.... mill will keep churning.
Well,
Good luck to you then. :)

Wait until November for Democrats to gain control ?
I am sorry, but that is the opposite of what 4 recent elections have shown. In spite of Republicans bad reputation, the American people seem to have replaced incumbents based on their position on illegal immigration/amnesty, not necessarily on their party. Those of us waiting to see Democrats regaining control may be heading towards a disappointment. I am not sure if others understand what we are up against. That's exactly what members of the House want:if you wait after November, more likely than not a number of incumbents may be kicked out of the office. Then it would be easier to pass a House enforcement bill.
Is the only hope. Reality is that we have to wait for November and hope that Democrats will gain power at the House. Is important to undestand that only the conservative repubblican are blocking and killing the bill. We have to hope for the Democrats to gain control.

By "filing" in my above comment, I meant filing a SR for FP appointment. I already have my EADs and APs
